Can I connect with you?

Uncategorized Mar 02, 2021

You often hear me say that “I live to add value to leaders!” What does that mean and how does that happen?

I am convinced that too many people live life to add value to themselves. To increase their income, their influence, and their inroads. Too often, even leaders think of material possessions first. What can I get out of it? How much will they pay me? I promise you that a life lived beneath the shadow of materialism is a dark and shallow life. Others live to have influence or power over others to get something for themselves. Notoriety, opportunities, and sometimes infamy becomes the result of all they do. Still, others live to be in certain circles, to make inroads into the lifestyles of the rich and famous. And while many of these things are not morally wrong within themselves yet the constant pursuit of them above all else is a dangerous and unfulfilling life to live.

It is far better to live a life that instead of focusing on increasing your value, you focus on...

Do what you can doā€”let God do the rest!

As a leader I have watched miracles of answered prayer for our children, reconciliation in relationships, change in hearts, and provision for our needs. Sometimes I’m tempted to say thank you and then wait for more, but I realize that my Friend expects me to lead and lead well.  Some days I can imagine my Friend saying: “Listen, I’ll keep doing My part, but I need you to make sure you handle your part. I’ll lead you out of the prison and take you into the city. I’ll change your heart. I’ll change the hearts of others toward you. I’ll do the things you can’t possibly do. But you must make the adjustments you can make.” So we must fill our hearts with wisdom so we can show others how to do their part!

Just as limitations and prison experiences teach us obedience, so do prison breaks. In something as risky as breaking away from those guards, we don’t want to be the ones leading without a commitment to lead well. We won't...

Are you ready for the next phase of your Next Level leadership journey??

blessing journey next level Feb 16, 2021

If you are a parent—or really, anyone, because we’ve all been children—you’ve probably said or heard things like, “If you want to do this, you’re going to have to be more responsible. If you want a car, you have to prove you can be responsible with it. If you want those sneakers, you must show me you can take care of your possessions.”

The truth is that we really don’t know what’s best for us all the time. We may pray, “God, I want this right now.” And God may release it to us just to let us experience what a blessing given prematurely feels like. On the other hand, if He sees we’re not ready, He may withhold it. Anyone who’s lived for just a little while knows to thank God for withholding what we cannot handle—that withholding is an act of love. If God steps into your situation and performs a miracle, often, in order for the miracle to fulfill what it was sent to do, you must respond. The miracle...

Donā€™t Stop Believing!

God is efficient. He gets maximum work out of our limitations, and then He moves us on: the prison sentence is over. When God finishes using your limitations, your release will come. Even the fact that God has you reading this is an indication that your change is at hand.

We’re not having this conversation just to keep you satisfied with the past, to keep you living in the past, or to cause you to limit your understanding of life to the past. We’re having this conversation because the past was critical and necessary to bring you to today so that God could bring you out of limitations.

When we believe God, we can walk with Him, learn to love Him, let down our guard with Him, and depend on Him—we can become intimate with One whom we expect to come through. The problem is we give up on God too easily. Expectancies are a place of trust, and trust is the basis of friendship. To protect our hearts from frustration in difficult times, we often lower our expectations of...

Do you ever feel trapped in life?

control limitation trapped Feb 02, 2021

Is it often difficult to believe your prison could have a good purpose? Do you look at the squads of guards around you and become convinced that an enemy is controlling what happens to you? It can seem that permission has been given to oppress and destroy you.

David wrote in the Psalms, “The earth is the Lord’s, and all it contains, the world, and those who live in it” (Psalm 24:1, NASB). If the earth and all it contains belong to God, then the prison, too, must be under His authority. God is ultimately in control of your life.

No matter what life brings your way, nothing can hide you from God’s life and love. Maybe you believe yourself so broken down, damaged, and hemmed-in that God can’t get to you. Perhaps you feel trapped emotionally and out of God’s reach. I want to encourage you: there is no place, no prison, no emotional dungeon that is hidden from the Lord.

If you are recognizing some places of limitation, you are there with God’s...
